Designed and manufactured by memory visioner Swissbit, the solutions can provide up to 256 GB alongside improved endurance, especially in pseudo-Single Level Cell (pSLC) mode, which achieves up to 100,000 P/E cycles. A substantial advancement from former standards of the BICs3 models, standing at only 30K cycles.

Although larger than its contemporaries, the model’s size also had advantages. A Simplified Printed Circuit Board (PCB) routing thanks to a 1mm ball pitch, at least compared to 0.5mm on a 153-ball format, fewer assembly issues like solder bridging, higher reliability in demanding cases due to better heat dissipation, better and more robust designs aimed for industrial needs. Just to name a few. Not only that, previously exposed test pads, using during development, had been closed. Helping in preventing corrosion in harsh environments, such as those with exposure to corrosive gases.

From conception to manufature, the entire production process of the EM-30 100-ball eMMC memory solutions series will be from now on a completely in-house affair, located at Swissbit’s own hi-tech site in Berlin.   The only chip-on-board production site of its kind in Europe, the site enables Swissbit, and E.D.E as a result, to be more in tune to the customer’s developing needs, a faster response for any issue at hand and to have full, and one might say, instant control over production processes.
